Town of Whitewater Town Board Monthly Meeting
Minutes 6-9-2021
The Town Board of the Town of Whitewater, Walworth County, Wisconsin, met on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 7:00 PM at W8590 Willis Ray Road.
Lowell Hagen called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM
In attendance were Lowell Hagen, Norm Prusener, Bob Strand and Jorja Boiley.
Norm Prusener made a motion to accept the agenda as presented, seconded by Bob Strand, the motion carried.
Norm Prusener made a motion to accept the review of information from the 5-11-2021 Special Board Meeting, seconded by Bob Strand and the motion carried.
Norm Prusener made a motion to accept the Minutes from the 5-12-2021 Monthly Board Meeting, seconded by Bob Strand, the motion carried.
Norm Prusener made a motion to accept the review of information from the May 17, 2021 Special Board Meeting.
Norm Prusener made a motion to accept the minutes from the 5-28-2021 Special Board Meeting, seconded by Bob Strand and the motion carried.
Norm Prusener made a motion to accept the minutes from the 6-1-2021 Special Board Meeting, seconded by Bob Strand and the motion carried.
The cash balances were read by the treasurer.
Norm Prusener made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Bob and the motion carried.
Supervisor’s reports:
Norm Prusener said that the DNR contacted him about a meeting on Thursday, June 17th between 1:00 and 4:00 PM. The DNR wants to discuss on-site the issues surrounding the proposed lake wall, beach and redirection of water run-off on Hill Dr.
Sgt. Skibba reported that there were 240 service calls in the month of May. He shared information about the private plane that crashed near Millis Road. The Lake patrol boat is in full operation. Serious automobile crash on Millis Road.
Mathew Sylvester-Knudtson, Director of Business Services – Whitewater Unified School District shared information and a summary about the past year and dealing with pandemic issues. 100 students left the Whitewater district to attend in school classes in other districts. He is hopeful that many of those students who left will return in the fall.
A request for approval for a landscaping project was presented by Randall Pollard. The project he is proposing requires an Encroachment Agreement. He was provided with the paperwork required to file. No approval can be provided until documents are processed through the County.
Liquor licenses and Operator’s licenses were approved for:
Norm Prusener made a motion for approval of liquor license, 2 operator licenses, one provisional operator’s license and a soda license for The Fuzzy Pig, Three operator’s licenses, full liquor license and cigarette license for Willow Brook Golf Course, a soda license, liquor license for JNT’s Parkside Marina, an additional Operator’s license was denied pending verification that a restaurant facility exists on the site, motion seconded by Bob Strand and the motion carried by a voice vote.
Lowell made a motion to adjourn to a Closed Session at 7:45 PM; seconded by Norm Prusener, the motion carried by voice vote.
In the Closed Session, Lowell Hagen made a motion to offer the position of Roadman for the Town of Whitewater to Carl Ahrens, seconded by Bob Strand; the motion carried by a 2/3 majority voice vote.
The Closed Meeting adjourned to Open Session.
The Board reviewed and paid bills.
Norm made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 PM, seconded by Bob Strand, the motion carried by voice vote.
