Controlled Fire Burn

 Information regarding controlled burn procedures.

 Included in the current contract with the City of Whitewater is they will no longer charge the Town for individual fire calls. The exceptions are as follows:

“An additional charge of $500.00 will be issued to the Township for controlled burns in the following conditions: “The fire is called in because it escapes the control area. The fire is called in by a third party due to being unattended. The fire is called in by a third party in a scenario in which the igniter has not called and advised the dispatch center(s) of the controlled burn.”

The Town has now received an invoice from the City of Whitewater for an unreported event in the amount of $500.00, which will be billed to the responsibility party.

Please note the Town ordinance along with standard operating procedures that must be followed.

 22-2Notice to agency of time, place of planned burning.

Any person or persons planning to do any burning in the Town of Whitewater shall notify the agency providing fire protection to the Town of the place and time of such burning prior to the burning. The person or persons shall start fires only as permitted under local, county, state or federal regulations and rules in effect at the time of the burning.

 

 To Report a Controlled Fire Burn

Report all controlled fires to the Whitewater
Fire Dept. @ 262.473.0555 and the Walworth County Sheriff Dept. @ 262.741.4400. If someone reports a fire that has not been called in and fire trucks are dispatched, you will be charged for the fire call. Someone must be at the burn site until the fire is out.
