Lengthy update on road construction

The asphalt paving crews started placing the final layer of asphalt today (the Wednesday rains delayed that start). The paving crews will be on site tomorrow and will continue 6 days a week until completed (barring any weather delays). With the forecasted temperatures tomorrow and Monday, they will get as far as they can on those days.

Late next week, the rock drilling crews will be on site to drill the signal bases at US 12/CTH P. We encountered bedrock between 6-9 ft so we needed specialized equipment to ensure enough depth for the bases.

Also, next week crews will be adding drums and cones on US 12 west of CTH P to fix the traffic signal detection. The current wire and conduit are damaged and to ensure the detection works long term, they need to be installed under the concrete pavement. We will need to remove a few panels of concrete, install the conduit, and pour concrete back. I am hoping this all take a week’s time or less.
