Resolution Number 10-13-2021 TL

Whereas,the State of Wisconsin has imposed levy limits on towns, villages, cities and county levies for 2021and thereafter under Wisconsin Statute 66.0602;

Whereas,Wisconsin Statute 66.0602 limits the allowable local levy for 2021 to a percentage increase of no more than the greater of (a) zero percent of the 2020 payable 2021adjusted actual levy as calculated under the state’s levy limit law or (b) a percentage equal to the percent change in equalized value due to net new construction less improvements removed,which for the Town of Whitewater is 0.31%;

Whereas,the Town Board or the Town o f Whitewater, Walworth County,believes that for the 2021tax levy (to be collected in 2022) it is in the town’s best interest to exceed the state levy limti as described above by a greater percentage than 0.31%;

Whereas,the Town of Whitewater’s 2020 payable 2021adjusted actual tax levy was $325, 297.00 and further whereas the state law would limit this year’s increase to $1008.00 ($325,297.00 x 0.31%) for a total allowable town tax levy of $325,9490. 0 ($326,305.00 less $355.74 for the 2022 personal property aid payment)·before adjustments for 2021(to be collected in 2022);

THEREFORE, the Town Board of the Town of Whitewater,Walworth County does hereby resolve and order as follows:
1. The town board supports an increase In the town tax levy for 2021that will exceed the amount allowed by the state levy limit for the purpose of increasing the budget for road repair projects
2. The town board directs that the question of increasing the allowable town tax levy for 2021(to be collected in 2022) by 46.019%,which would Increase the town levy by $150,000.00.for a
total tax levy (after adjustments) of $475,949.00 ($150,000.00 + $325,949.00), shall be placed on the agenda for the Elector’s Meeting to be held Wednesday,November 10,2021, immediately following the Public Meeting that starts at 6:00PM at W8590 Willis Ray Road.
