Regular Town Board Meeting

Jon called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM

In attendance: Jon, Bob, Jake, Jorja

Bob made a motion to approve the amended agenda, seconded by jake and the motion carried

Jake made a motion to approve the Minutes from the 1-14-2026 Board Meeting, seconded by Bob and the motion carried

 

Nick Yohanek provided call numbers for the month of January: 3.4 calls/day; He provided a detailed explanation for the various calls, many of which were false alarms. A few domestic violence, fire and EMS and welfare calls.

Clerk report:

The transition to new auditor, Baker Tilly, is progressing. They will be on site March 2nd to gather end of the year information.  Workhorse, the new company who will be providing new software and support to replace Quick Books, has started on-line training and plan to have the system live by March 1. Tax collection at the Township is completed. Any further payment must be mailed to the Walworth County Treasurer. Payouts to the other taxing districts will be completed by February 20.

Supervisor’s reports:

Jon: – calls re wake boars

Bob – nothing to report

Jake – met with Bob Nelick to review the safety patrol audit. DNR says Town will not be reimbursed for overtime payouts for the boat patrol even though the Town is billed for any over time that is incurred.

 

Public comment*

Rich Wagner stated that he opposes solar farms and is asking that the Town assist in stopping the Whitewater Solar organization. He is asking if the company has submitted an excavation permit for crossing under Bluff Road to install the panels.

 

Dr. Paul McGraw introduced himself as the candidate for State Assembly in the 43rd district. He has a background in veterinary medicine and feels that experience may be beneficial. He currently works at the Doctor’s Office in Darien as the managing director.

 

Tom Hausner who is running for County Sheriff. While he retired from law enforcement for 10 years, he is currently the Undersheriff for Walworth County.. He is running unopposed for the position of Walworth County Sheriff.  He is currently running unopposed.

Jake made a motion for the Town to show their support for his candidacy, Bob seconded and motion carried.

The agenda item for a variance request for a new garage to be built on Wood Chuck Alley was tabled because the paperwork did not include a drawing for the exact placement for the garage and the applicants did not attend the meeting.

The topic of applying a fee penalty for any driveway construction performed without a permit through the Township. After a discussion, a motion was stated by Jon that there should be a fine in the amount of double the normal permit fee and once assessed there will be a 60-day follow-up to ascertain if the fine was paid and a permit issued, Jake seconded the motion and the motion carried. The Appendix A to the Town Code will reflect the change as it applies to the various types of driveway construction.

After a brief discussion regarding who would have the authority for towing cars in the event they are parked illegally or impeding the ability to plow the roads. The current Town Code does allow for members of the Town Board to make the decision to call for towing service. Jate made a motion to amend the ordinance and extend the ability to tow cars to the Public Works Superintendent, seconded by Bob and the motion carried.

The Spring meeting sponsored by the WTA (Wisconsin Town’s Association) will be held Friday, March 13th at 8:00 AM at the 841 restaurant. Bob will attend.

Monthly bills were reviewed and checks signed.

 

Jon made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Jake and the motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM.
